Alec Building Contest 2009

American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)

American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)

2nd Place

Materials Used:
Aluminum foil, plaster, duct tape, yarn, burlap, felt, fabric, LEDs, compact florescent light bulb, slay, PVC, toy propeller, wood, ribbon, electrical wire

Artists' Statement:
We have built "Green" Alec - saving the world one step at a time - who holds a compact florescent bulb in his right hand in place of a goblet, stands in front of a windmill, and is surrounded by energy-efficient LEDs. He also supports recycling, which is obvious by the symbol he proudly displays on his tunic, as well as the recycled burlap he wears. As you may also notice, he has lost some weight due to his organic, all-natural diet. (Note: This Alec can be plugged in so his windmill turns and CFL and LEDs light up.)
