U.S. News and World Report 2009 America's Best Graduate Schools Badge

The Cockrell School of Engineering at UT Austin has consistently remained among the ranks of the country's top engineering schools. The 2009 edition of the U.S. News & World Report survey of 198 of the country's engineering graduate schools ranked UT's Cockrell School of Engineering as the nation's eleventh best overall in graduate quality.

The 2009 edition of the U. S. News & World Report survey of the country's engineering undergraduate schools ranked UT Austin eleventh in the nation among more than 350 accredited engineering schools, and sixth among public institutions. The magazine surveyed deans and select faculty of engineering schools for its latest issue of America's Best Colleges, and UT Austin's departmental engineering programs were all ranked in the top 20:  Aerospace (8th), Biomedical (19th), Chemical (7th), Civil (4th), Computer (8th), Electrical/Electronics (11th), Environmental (7th), Mechanical (10th), and Petroleum (2nd).

The College's 255 professorial faculty, 656 staff, and 1,731 student employees serve more than 7,200 students enrolled in nine undergraduate and 13 graduate programs.

Our faculty members are recognized worldwide for their expertise. Their widespread influence is illustrated in two ways. First, the College ranks fourth in number of faculty who are National Academy of Engineering members. Second, members have earned more than 80 young faculty awards from the National Science Foundation. Our students are among the most highly qualified in the country - UT Austin attracts the third highest number of National Merit Scholars in the nation.

Thank you for your interest in the School.
