Do you have a quick question for an academic advisor but don't want to trudge to the office? The Engineering Office of Student Affairs offers online instant messaging opportunities to chat with one of our advisors. Our staff is available on Instant Message (IM) to answer general questions about policies, procedures, services, and programs offered.
Please feel free to contact us if you have questions or need our help! To contact us, send a message from your IM software to our SAO Advisor MSN messenger account. For security reasons, no confidential information can be released over an instant message conversation. For example, we cannot tell you what grade you made in a class, the amount of your financial bar or anything specific to your individual record. For more information about FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act), visit the Registrar's website about educational records and confidentiality.
If you do have questions regarding your academic status, please call the Office of Student Affairs at 512-471-4321, Monday - Friday between the hours of 8 am - 5 pm or visit ECJ 2.200 to schedule an appointment with a SAO Academic Advisor.
To chat: Log on to instant messenger and send us a message at student_affairs@engr.utexas.edu. (Note: We currently are using MSN messenger only. Please check to make sure your IM software is able to communicate with MSN as some do not.)
Chat hours are Monday – Friday, 2 - 4 pm
Be sure to check the IM status. Remember, like any chat, it may take a few minutes to get a response, as the advisor may be helping another student.
