Engineering Undeclared students are in transition from one major to another. This is an interim classification until the transfer is complete.
Some students transfer to another college at UT, or to another university.
Other students apply for another major within Engineering. The requirements vary between majors, and over different semesters.
A student may choose to leave Engineering or may be dismissed from Engineering after being placed on Probation.
An Engineering Undeclared student must be advised before registration to remove the registration bar. This advising can be accomplished by one of the three methods below.
- Option 1. The student may meet with an advisor in the Office of Student Affairs to discuss the options. Before this meeting the student must complete an Online Undeclared Engineering Module (PowerPoint presentation), fill out a Questionnaire (pdf), and be prepared to discuss the steps toward finding a new major.
- Option 2. The student may attend a transfer session in another college, meet with an advisor in a prospective major, or or speak with a career counselor at the Career Exploration Center in JES A115. After this meeting the student must bring a signed form to ECJ 2.200, verifying this advising session.
- Option 3. The student may attend one of the Undeclared Engineering Advising Group Sessions listed here:
The module, questionnaire, and meeting with an advisor will help in:
- collecting information about the student, different majors, and possible careers
- the decision making process, providing resources for researching majors
- thinking through future options.
Now's the time to get started!! Good luck!
