Schedule of information sessions
Deadlines for Applications:
October 1st for Spring semesters
March 1st for Summer/Fall semesters
Readmitted students who are not currently enrolled should complete an application for an internal transfer in person at the Office of Student Affairs. Please call (512) 471-4321 to schedule an appointment with an Academic Advisor.
Decision Criteria:
- A student must complete a minimum of 24 hours at UT-Austin in residence (in a UT-Austin classroom). Credit by exam, correspondence, extension and transfer hours are not included in the 24-hour minimum.
- A student must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative in residence grade point average.
- A student is required to have completed the equivalent of M 408D. Beginning October 2, 2007, a student is required to have completed the equivalent of PHY 303K/103M.
- Students who are currently enrolled and are in the process of meeting the minimum criteria listed 1 through 3 are eligible to submit an application.
- For equally qualified applicants, preference will be given to the student who has completed more of the Basic Sequence courses required for the requested major.
- All applicants are ranked in two categories: Texas residents and non-residents (out-of-state, foreign). Ninety percent of the internal transfers must be Texas residents. There is a 10% limit on non-residents due to Texas state law.
- Some departments may have additional criteria for consideration, please see department section of the Undergraduate Catalog.
Admission to all majors in the Cockrell School of Engineering is offered on a space-available basis to those students who are best academically qualified. Best academically qualified is based on the UT-Austin in-residence cumulative grade point average and the University of Texas at Austin in-residence basic sequence grade point average.
Students who accept admission to The University of Texas at Austin with the expectation of transferring within the Cockrell School of Engineering or into a major in the Cockrell School of Engineering should seriously consider the internal transfer decision criteria.
