Fall Programs

Spring or Fall Semester in Monterrey, Mexico

Students can participate in a fall or spring semester at Tecnologico de Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico. The student can choose courses from an approved list as well as take Spanish language courses (at any level) and/or a Mexican history/culture course. Courses will be taught in English and Spanish. Students should take note of the language of instruction of the courses before registering. Students will pay UT tuition and fees for equivalent courses and live on-campus in dormitories. The deadline to apply for the spring semester is October 1st. The deadline to apply for the fall or the year is March 1st. Spring or Fall Semester in Singapore

Students can particpate in a fall or spring semester at National University of Singapore in Singapore. The student can choose courses from an approved list and takes one language course (at any level) and/or a history/culture course. If courses that you need to stay within your schedule are not on the list please see Laurie for the course approval procedure. All courses will be taught in English. Students will pay UT tuition and fees for equivalent courses and live on-campus in dormitories. Students are highly encouraged to apply for this program a year in advance. Interested students should check out the blog of Paul Jordan, a Chemical Enineering student that is currently abroad. If you are interested in applying to this program, fill out a pre-application. Spring or Fall Semester in Edinburgh, Scotland

This new semester focus program started in the spring semester of 2009. This program is very popular and will fill-up, students are encouraged to apply early. Students can spend the fall or spring semester at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. Students can choose from a list of pre-approved courses or locate courses that they wish to take on their own. They must take 3/4 of their courses within engineering while in Edinburgh. Students who are interested in learning more about this program should contact the IEE office.

Fall or Spring Semester in Melbourne, Australia

Students will spend a semester in the beautiful city of Melbourne and attend the University of Melbourne.  There are pre-approved courses for the program. If additional courses are needed, then students should see Laurie for more information. Students pay UT tuition and fees and live on-campus is dormitories. Fall or Spring Semester in Stockholm, Sweden for Mechanical Engineering Students

Students will spend  a fall semester in Sweden at the Royal Institute of Technology earning a certificate in sustainable energy. This program allows students the unique opportunity to take courses in sustainable energy in one of the world's most progressive countries in the field.

Fall or Spring Semester in Perth, Australia

Students will spend a semester in the beautiful city of Perth and attend the University of Western Australia.  There are pre-approved courses for the program. UT Study Abroad Office

Students who are interested in studying abroad in countries that the IEE does not have programs with can still go abroad. You will have to go through the UT Study Abroad Office to go abroad. If you would like to take engineering credit, you are responsible for working with your faculty advisor. The Study Abroad Office offers programs for a semester, maymester, summer or year.

Engineering Projects for Underserved Communities

The Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering are offering a two course sequence for students to work on international and domestic projects that will directly benefit underserved communities. The first course will be offered in the fall semester of 2009 and is open to all majors. Projects will be multidisciplinary including mechanical, electrical, civil, chemical and biomedical engineering. Projects are currently being pursued in Texas, Panama and Ghana. Email Laurie for more information on registering for these courses.
