Engineers of the 21st century are responding constantly to new technology and marketplace demands. This evolving market requires not only technical proficiency but knowledge of international issues as well. By participating in the Cockrell School of Engineering International Engineering Programs (IEP) you will:

The Cockrell School of Engineering is developing educational programs in other countries to help students like you attain the skills necessary for success in the global marketplace. Through IEE, students are introduced to a new culture and learn about international issues important to the engineering field.

Engineering students from all disciplines are encouraged to participate in programs offered by the IEE office during their undergraduate careers. Significant financial aid is available for all of the international programs. We have also compiled a Student Guide to help plan your trip and orient you to the programs. You can also take a look at some of our Past IEE Programs to get a feel for what we have to offer.

UT Study Abroad Office

Students who are interested in studying abroad in countries that the IEE does not have programs with can still go abroad. You will have to go through the UT Study Abroad Office to go abroad. If you would like to take engineering credit, you are responsible for working with your faculty advisor. The Study Abroad Office offers programs for a semester, maymester, summer or year.

Planet Longhorn

If you are interested in getting involved before you go abroad, or after you return, you can participate in Planet Longhorn. Planet Longhorn is a student organization that was started by engineering students who had been abroad and wanted exchange students here at UT to have an opportunity to meet local students.

UT has a very active Engineers Without Borders Student Organization. This group has projects in Mexico, Panama and Cameroon. Students have the opportunity to have an international experience while using their engineering skills to benefit society.
