Summer Programs

Summer School in London, England (this program has been cancelled for 2008, but will be offered again in 2009)
2009

A six-week summer program at the University College of London (UCL) will be offered during the summer of 2007. The program consists of two courses: The Engineering course counts as a fine arts elective or a technical elective for ARE students and a social science course taught by a UCL faculty member. The engineering course is taught by Professor Brooks of Architectural Engineering. Students will live on-campus in dormitories. Classes meet Monday-Thursday. Students pay a program fee, tuition and fees for one 3-hour course in the summer, travel costs, and meals. Program fee includes housing and instructional costs for second course. Open to engineering students with a minimum GPA of 2.75. Priority deadline is December 1st; Program dates are approximately mid June to mid July. Estimated program fee is approximately $5,000. Summer School in Toulouse, France
2008

A six-week summer program at the Institut National des Sciences Appliques de Toulouse (INSA-Toulouse) will be offered during the summer of 2007. The program will consist of two courses: ME379M Engineering Standards and Industrial Policy in a Global Environment taught by Dr. Janet Ellzey and a French class for beginners. ME379M is accepted as a technical elective in most engineering departments. Check with undergraduate advisor in individual department for verification. Students will live on-campus in dormitories. Classes meet Monday-Thursday. Students pay a program fee, tuition and fees for one 3-hour course in the summer, travel costs, and meals. Program fee includes housing and instructional costs for the second course, insurance, and International SOS. Open to upper division engineering students admitted to major sequence with a minimum GPA of 2.75. Application deadline is February 15th; Program dates are approximately June 1 - July 9. Summer School in Cordoba, Argentina
2008

A six-week summer program taught at Cuidad Universitaria in Cordoba Argentina will be offered during the summer of 2008.  . Students will take one Engineering course as well as choose from a variety of courses offered in Cordoba. The Engineering course is ASE211/ME218/CE311K- Scientific Computing and Numerical analysis with Applications. This course is taught by Professor Ocampo of Aerospace Engineering. Math 427k, Diferential Equations is also offered for Engineering students. Students MUST take a Spanish course for this program.Both of these courses are offered in the first summer session. If students have the prerequisite courses, they may stay for the second summer session and take upper division Spanish courses. This program is a great opportunity for students who want to obtain a minor in Spanish. For additional information about Cordoba, please visit the Center for Global Education Opportunities. Summer in Santander, Spain

A six-week summer program taught in Santander, Spain will be offered during the summer of 2008.  . Students will take one Engineering course as well as choose from a variety of courses offered in Santander. The Engineering course is 333T- Engineering Communications. This course is taught by Professor Randell of Chemical Engineering. Students MUST take a Spanish course for this program as their second course. The engineering course is offered in the first summer session. If students have the prerequisite courses, they may stay for the second summer session and take upper division Spanish courses. This program is a great opportunity for students who want to obtain a minor in Spanish. For additional information about Santander, please visit the Center for Global Education Opportunities. Application priority deadline is December1st; Program dates are the end of May through the begining of July.. Estimated program fee is $4,200. Financial Aid is available. Maymester in Lille, France
2008

A four week program taught in Lille, France will be offered as a Maymester in Lille, France. The tuition for this program is within the spring semester tuition. Students need to register for this program when they register for their spring semester courses. Students may choose from two courses. 333T Engineering Communications will be taught by Dr. Randi Voss. This course has been approved for all departments. Students take one course for this program. Students live on-campus in dormitories. Classes meet Monday-Thursday. Students pay a program fee, travel costs and meals. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is needed. Application deadline for this program is November 1st. Program dates are approximately from the end of May to the end of June. The estimated program fee is $2,500. Financial aid is available. Center for Global Education Office

Students who are interested in studying abroad in countries that the IEE does not have programs with can still go abroad. You will have to go through the Center for Global Education Office (CGEO) to go abroad. If you would like to take engineering credit, you are responsible for working with your faculty advisor. CGEO offers programs for a semester, maymester, summer or year.>>

Planet Longhorn

If you are interested in getting involved before you go abroad, or after you return, you can participate in Planet Longhorn. Planet Longhorn is a student organization that was started by engineering students who had been abroad and wanted exchange students here at UT to have an opportunity to meet local students.>>
