Born in Odessa, Ukraine on May 12, 1975, Oleg Shchekin came to the United States to attend The University of Texas at Austin as an undergraduate student in 1993. After earning his bachelor of science degree with high honors and special honors in physics, Oleg continued with his graduate education at the Cockrell School of Engineering focusing on GaAs-based semiconductor quantum dot lasers.
