Curt G. Engelhorn

German-born Curt G. Engelhorn is a pharmaceutical industry veteran and philanthropist.

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the Cockrell School of Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin in 1951, Engelhorn went on to build a pharmaceutical empire.

For more than 35 years, Engelhorn led pharmaceutical companies Boehringer Mannheim and DePuy Inc. In 1997, he sold Boehringer Mannheim and DePuy to Swiss health care company Hoffmann-La Roche. Engelhorn is the great-grandson of the founder of German chemical company BASF.

Janet H. Lowe

Engineer-turned-entrepreneur Janet H. Lowe is co-founder and principal of LTI LLC, a consulting company.

After receiving a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the Cockrell School of Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin in 1979, Lowe joined Shell as a process engineer.

Seeking business skills to facilitate her entrepreneurial ambitions, Lowe left industry to earn her MBA from Rice University in 1988 and then accepted management and executive positions in marketing, sales, finance and strategy at Sterling Partners, Compaq and WilTel Communications. She eventually co-founded CPLEX Optimization, a software startup.

Brian M. McKee

Chairman, Millennium Engineering and Integration Company

Brian M. McKee is co-founder and chairman of Millennium Engineering and Integration Company (MEI), a high-end engineering contractor providing expertise to the Army, Air Force, Navy, Missile Defense Agency, Department of Homeland Security, Office of the Secretary of Defense and NASA.

McKee received his bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from the Cockrell School of Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin in 1980.

McKee provides the company’s long-range vision and growth strategy, relying on his extensive technical experience in flight test planning analysis, modeling, simulation and testing of new technologies for launch vehicles, spacecraft and missile defense weapons systems. MEI has multiple offices around the country and dozens of government contracts.

Randall W. Poston

Randall W. Poston, Ph.D., P.E., S.E., is a structural engineer and a founding partner of the consulting engineering firm Pivot Engineers in Austin.

Poston says that if he has had success, by whatever measure, it is directly attributable to his undergraduate education at the Cockrell School of Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin and his graduate training at the school’s Phil M. Ferguson Structural Engineering Laboratory. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering in 1978 and 1980, respectively. Poston’s proudest accomplishment in engineering is having received his Ph.D. in 1984 at UT Austin. Poston has served on the External Advisory Committee for the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering (CAEE), and in 2008, he was elected to the CAEE Academy of Distinguished Alumni.

Autry C. Stephens

Autry C. Stephens is the president and CEO of Endeavor Energy Resources LP.

He received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in petroleum engineering from the Cockrell School of Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin in 1961 and 1962, respectively.

Stephens, who grew up on a farm in DeLeon, Texas, has a deep appreciation for his education and believes it set the foundation for his success.

Following graduation, Stephens began his career with Humble Oil & Refining Company. After seven years, including a two-year leave of absence while serving in the Army, he joined the First National Bank of Midland as an appraisal engineer. In 1979, he became an independent consulting petroleum engineer.
