Distinguished Engineering Graduate Award
The highest honor the Cockrell School of Engineering can bestow on one of its own is the title "Distinguished Engineering Graduate." This a graduate who has presented him or herself to the world as consummate professional and dedicated engineer.
When nominating an engineering graduate for this award, the following criteria will guide you in your submission:
- evidence of public recognition accorded by professional groups outside The University of Texas at Austin
- civic activity and public service by a nominee on a local, regional, state, national and international basis
- current or former positions of business or engineering leadership (for example, a high level corporate officer, inventor, investor, researcher or academician.)
- financial support of and service to the School and The University should be considered in the selection process.
- active members of the Engineering Advisory Board shall not be considered, but senior active members may be nominated.
Outstanding Young Engineering Graduate Award
This award is for an engineering graduate who is under the age of 40. The same criteria for the Distinguished Engineering Graduate Award should be considered, but not necessarily on the same magnitude. An Outstanding Young Engineering Graduate is a graduate who has the potential to become a Distinguished Engineering Graduate.
PLEASE NOTE:
The Distinguished Graduate Selection Committee requests that the nominator complete the form in its entirety.
If you need more space in any of the categories, complete a second form with the necessary additions in the appropriate category(s). Be sure to add "continuation" after the nominee's name on the second form.
Selection Process:
Nominations are received by the Cockrell School of Engineering and forwarded to
the Distinguished Graduate Selection Committee. The nomination deadline for
2008 Outstanding Young Engineering Graduate is February 8, 2008.
