UT Austin College of Engineering announces 2003 Distinguished Graduates
Four alumni were elected Distinguished Graduates of The University of Texas at Austin's College of Engineering and honored at fall commencement ceremonies on Dec. 6. The annual selections, made by the college's Engineering Foundation Advisory Council, are based on outstanding professional records, public service, support of education, and other significant events. The 2003 Distinguished Graduates are: Dr. Clay Fulcher, a consultant with Boeing, Dr. W. Ronald Hudson, professor emeritus of civil engineering at UT Austin, Joe Parsley, retired co-founder of Parker and Parsley Petroleum Co., and Peyton Yates, president of Yates Drilling Co. and executive vice president of Yates Petroleum Corp.

Engineers receive $6.7 million to study outdoor air quality in Corpus Christi
Engineers at The University of Texas at Austin College of Engineering's Center for Energy and Environmental Resources have received $6.7 million to study air quality in and around the Corpus Christi, Texas area. The money results from a chemical and refining company's condition of probation after a criminal conviction for environmental violations at one of its Corpus Christi plants.

Mechanical engineering professor hopes to make life easier for breast cancer survivors
Most women with localized breast cancer will survive. Improving life's quality for survivors motivated Dr. Tess Moon, a mechanical engineering professor at The University of Texas at Austin, to direct a study of the biomechanical properties of healthy female breasts. She hopes her work leads to more natural-looking reconstructed breasts after a mastectomy.

Engineering Homecoming 2004 date set
The date has been set for 2004 Engineering Homecoming so mark your calendars today! Save October 15-16, 2004 to come back to campus to enjoy numerous events held by the UT College of Engineering. If you would like to plan your own reunion or special event during this week, contact the Engineering Alumni Relations Office at alumni@engr.utexas.edu or 512-471-2784.

This past November's Engineering Homecoming was a big success! Over 250 alumni participated in the numerous events on and around campus. Pictures are now posted online so you can view the festivities on the Engineering Homecoming 2003 website.
