Research:
Biomimetic Synthetic Polymers –
My
research interest is to control surface reactivity and to design interfacial
structure for the development of bioactive conductive polypyrrole (PPy)
composites for use as cell adhesion/proliferation platforms in tissue
engineering. The key strategies are:
-
Synthesis of monomeric
pyrrole precursors functionalized at the N- or 3-position
-
Immobilization of
biological molecules on functionalized PPy surfaces for advancing cellular
interfaces
-
Fabrication of 3D porous PPy matrices to promote cell growth in both the
horizontal and vertical directions
-
Blend
and/or chemical PPy composites with biodegradable hyaluronan
derivatives for combined drug delivery and tissue engineering applications
