Ruth Crawford Staff Excellence Award in Chemical Engineering

The highest recognition given by the Department to a staff member is the Ruth Crawford Staff Excellence Award. This award is given each year to honor a staff member in the Department of Chemical Engineering who has contributed significantly to the excellence of the Department. The award was endowed by Chemical Engineering Alumni, Faculty and Staff in 1991 to recognize a senior staff member, Ruth Crawford. Ruth’s thirty years career of exemplary service the The University of Texas at Austin and to the Department of Chemical Engineering is a model for those who follow her.
General Guidelines
One award will be made annually.
Award Amount
Each award shall be in the amount of $1,500. The funds shall be derived from income from the Ruth Crawford Staff Excellence Award endowment.
Criteria for Selection
The award shall be limited to classified
personnel who are employed full-time in the Department of Chemical Engineering for at least one year (by August 31) of the year of the award. The previous year's award recipient in not eligible.
The award shall be based on outstanding and creative contributions and exemplary performance.
Selection
The
recipient will be selected by a committee convened by the Chairman. This committee is composed of one faculty member, one graduate student, and the previous year's award recipient. Input is requested from faculty, staff and graduate students.
