Professor Adam Heller Elected Honorary Fellow of AIMBE

Adam Heller, of the University of Texas at Austin has been elected an Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE), the highest honor bestowed by the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering. Dr. Heller is being recognized for “outstanding contributions to medical and biological engineering” . The award will be presented on February 12, 2009 at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington as part of AIMBE’s 2009 Annual Event. Professor Heller has been invited to speak at the AIMBE meeting.

The nomination document pointed out that "Professor Heller is an internationally known chemist and chemical engineer whose far reaching contributions in electrochemical engineering have affected the citizens of the United States and the World in numerous ways. Adam Heller, a survivor of the War World II concentration camps, responded to inhumanity with supreme humanity, changing his negative personal experiences into a world of new aids and products for the world, into medical and other products that have helped improve the quality of life of millions of people throughout the world. Previously elected a member of the National Academy of Engineering, Adam Heller was honored at the White House in October 2008 with the National Medal of Technology and Innovation".
