Scholarship Award Process for Current Students

Scholarship Opportunities for Continuing Students

The Department of Chemical Engineering plays an instrumental role in awarding and in making nominations for scholarships each year for continuing Chemical Engineering undergraduate students. Currently enrolled UT Chemical Engineering students who intend to continue their education in Chemical Engineering may apply for scholarships each year in January for monies to be distributed the following year.

Application is made online via the College of Engineering scholarship application at https://utdirect.utexas.edu/engine/scholarship/. Completing this application means you will be reviewed for all recurring Engineering College scholarships being offered from companies, foundations and endowments. You will also be reviewed for Department of Chemical Engineering scholarships funded directly through the Department.

Scholarships are highly competitive, so working hard in your classes and participating in service and professional organizations will greatly improve your scholarship awards. In filling out the scholarship application, paying attention to details and deadlines will further increase your chances of scholarship monies to help with your schooling. There are some scholarships that are decided from outside UT and must be applied for on a separate application, usually handled through the College of Engineering. Frequently checking the bulletin board outside the Chemical Engineering Undergraduate Office under the Scholarship category will keep you informed of these additional opportunities. Good luck!

Chemical Engineering students interested in qualifying for scholarship monies should carefully note the following points.

• Applicants are required to have a GPA of 3.2 or greater to be considered for almost all scholarships.

• The College deadline for application is February 1. The Department of Chemical Engineering deadline is February 15.

• Applications are retained online, but must be updated thoroughly each year by the deadline date to be considered for the next year's scholarship monies.

• Financial information must be disclosed to be considered for almost all scholarships. Be accurate.

• On the application, when asked about scholarship money, current and for the next year, you are expected to disclose accurately and fully.

• On the application, when asked about scholarship money for the NEXT year be extremely careful not to list money being received for the current year that does not continue for the next. Read award letters carefully and keep track of what scholarships you receive.

• If you have any special circumstances to be considered, please write them down in the notes section at the end of the application.

• Be sure to state any career interests you have in the appropriate section.
