The Mission of the Information Technology Group is to optimize the Cockrell School of Engineering by providing its people with information technology resources that are relevant, accessible, reliable, and useable through planning, collaboration and skills.
Accounts
All Engineering Students, Staff, and Faculty are eligible to obtain an account that provides access to a variety of services including file space, web publishing and access to labs.

Engineering staff and faculty are eligible for an Outlook/Exchange Mailbox.

Web
We offer a variety of web services and applications. We provide web hosting services to students and faculty. For university business, we offer custom web development as well as consulting services related to web development, design, accessability and usability.
File Services
File space is available to students, faculty and staff for their storage needs. Everyone is encouraged to use this service to protect their files in case of a problem.
- Self-service backup and restore options
- Instructions for accessing your file space are available for: students, student organizations, and faculty/staff

Classrooms
Engineering students and faculty have computer classrooms available for their use. Both classrooms are equipped with a projection system, document camera, and laptop connections to facilitate demonstrations and instruction.
Labs
Computer facilities are available for student use within most departments. These labs (also called "Learning Resource Centers") all have different hours as well as equipment and are located in each of the engineering buildings. All computers are networked to central hard disks and printers. There may be some charges for printing.
Software
Engineering students and faculty have access to software provided under academic licensing.
Hardware
The Information Technology Group offers support and information for your hardware needs.
Security
As threats on the internet increase, we can help you protect and secure your systems. We provide tools for anti-virus, firewalls, software patching and other resources. We can also consult with you to bring these tools together to provide a comprehensive security plan.
Custom Development
If you have a business process that you are wanting to automate, third party software that you are needing to integrate, a website in need of a redesign, or would just like to consult with someone regarding your technology needs, we can help you out with all of these needs. The Equipment Loan program has been discontinued by the Information Technology Group Service Desk. Information Technology Services (ITS) offers a Laptop Checkout program to current students, staff, and faculty. The ITS program features both PC and Mac laptop equipment. Thank you.
