All Engineering Students, Staff, and Faculty are eligible to obtain an ENGR domain account. Faculty and Staff accounts can be enabled with an Outlook Exchange mailbox if desired.
Students
There are several classrooms and labs in Cockrell School of Engineering available for student use. Every student that is currently in an Engineering major or enrolled in an Engineering class is eligible for 500 MB of home directory disk space. You will need an account to access these resources. One of our classrooms, Studio Classroom 2 - ECJ 3.402, now uses your UT-EID. Other classrooms require an ENGR account to access their resources. Please select one of the links below to either enable your UT-EID for the Studio Classroom 2 or interactively request an ENGR account.
>Enable your EID Account - for the following classroom and Engineering resources
> Request a Student ENGR Account - for the following classrooms/labs and Engineering resources
- ASE LRC (Learning Resource Center) - WRW 205
- ME Technology and Educational Resources - ETC 2.126
- BME Learning Resource Center
Resources available to Engineering students
- File space -- Home Directories
- Web Publishing space
Staff
An Engineering Staff account gives you access to the following:
- File space
- Outlook/Exchange mailbox
- Cockrell School of Engineering Computer Labs -- for seminars
- Teaching Consoles -- for making presentations in classrooms (in CPE, ECJ, ENS, ETC, WRW)
When you apply for an account we need to know your UT-EID, your University Mailbox address (UMBS) -- name@mail.utexas.edu, and if you wish to have a Cockrell School of Engineering Exchange mailbox for access via Outlook. If you do not have a UT-EID, then we need the contact information for a Cockrell School of Engineering sponsor (faculty or staff) and purpose for your account.
For staff who will be using their Engineering mailbox as their primary mailbox, the following configuration is highly recommended:
- Advertise your UMBS email address
- Forward your email from UMBS to your Engineering address (name@engr.utexas.edu). This allows you to take advantage of features such as spam filtering on the UMBS system.
- Contact us, and we will set your “reply-to” address on the Engineering mailbox to your UMBS address, so that sent messages will appear to come from your advertised address.
Note: When your Exchange mailbox is setup a UMBS address is not required, but it is highly recommended.
Faculty
> Request a faculty ENGR account and/or Outlook/Exchange mailbox
