Password rules
- Your password must be at least 8 characters long but pass phrases consisting of longer sentences provide stronger security)
- It must contain characters from three of the following four
categories:
- English upper case characters (A..Z)
- English lower case characters (a..z)
- Base 10 digits (0..9)
- Non-alphanumeric (For example, !,$#,%). Do not use > or < in your password.
- Your password cannot include all or part of your username.
- It should not include a word found in the dictionary
- Your password cannot be the same as any of the last five passwords you have used.
How to select a password
You can be as creative as you wish with your password. You should NOT simply pick a word, capitalize the first letter and tack a number on the end (ex: Sesame1 is a poor password). You should instead think of a phrase that you can change significantly. The more unique and personal the meaning of the phrase is to you, the better.
The best passwords are long but easily remembered (often referred to as passphrases). Using an odd sentence (including punctuation) with misspellings often creates a strong password.
