


The multimedia desk in these rooms is designed as a "single projection" system.
Users can send VIDEO SOURCES to one large video screen from a
- CPU (with external CD/DVD drive; internet connection)
- Laptop
- Document Camera (Doc Cam)
- VCR external player (IMPORTANT: VCR machines are not provided in these rooms at this time. Equipment is available from the ITG Service Desk in ECJ 2.506 as part of the equipment loan program but must be returned after use. Contact the ITG Service Desk at 232-2486 to discuss the transfer of VHS video to DVD.)
The PROJECTOR is turned on/off with buttons located on the wall-mounted EXTRON CONTROL PANEL at the front of the room near the multimedia desk (Figure 1).

Important Point: When the system is off, the computer flat panel monitor shows 'black' and appears "off". The projector system must be completely 'on' with a source selection activated for you to see the PC, Doc Cam or Laptop.

AUDIO VOLUME levels are adjusted at the EXTRON CONTROL PANEL by rotating the Volume Control Knob. Five LEDs (green/red) provide visual representation of the volume changes (Figure 2).

SWITCH/DISPLAY VIDEO SOURCES to the projector is done by firmly pressing buttons on the EXTRON CONTROL PANEL. These buttons are labeled as PC, Laptop, Doc Cam. Each button brightens and remains backlit while the specific audio/video input is selected/active (Figure 3).
Turning On the Projector

- Locate the wall-mounted EXTRON CONTROL PANEL within arms reach of the multimedia desk.
- Firmly press the PROJECTOR ON button (Figure 4) to turn on the ceiling mounted projector. This will begin a 30 seconds warm up cycle. When a solid blue screen appears on the screen, the projector system is ready for use.
Important NOTE: The UP/DOWN switches for both video screens are located on the wall near the writing surfaces.
The desk height is adjustable. The height of the desk can be RAISED(Figure 5) or LOWERED (Figure 6) by pressing the DESK ADJUST keys (Figure 7) located under the tabletop and to the right side of the keyboard tray (Figure 8).

When using a laptop, plug the AC adaptop into the POWER OUTLET located under the desktop and to the left of the keyboard tray (Figure 9).

To "BLANK" the display source, press the "PIC MUTE" button (Figure 10). The screen will automatically retract to allow chalkboard use and for presenters to step to the front of the room. Pressing "PIC MUTE" again will lower the screen and restore the display image output.
IP Intercom: Help is Just a Button Press Away!
The EXTRON CONTROL PANEL includes an IP INTERCOM two-way intercom system that enables instructors to quickly request assistance from the ITG Service Desk. The Service Desk is available Mon-Fri 7:30-12, 1-4:30
- The IP INTERCOM is mounted immediately to the right of the CONTROL PANEL (Figure 11).
- Press the HELP DESK button (Figure 12) and a voice message confirms your call is being sent to the ITG Service Desk.
- When the ITG Service Desk dispatcher answers the call, PLEASE speak toward the control panel.
- Please state your name, describe your problem, and provide your location.
- A technician will be dispatched immediately to your location by the ITG Service Desk representative if the issues can not be resolved over the intercom.

Press the "PC" button to view/display the console PC. The button is located on the front of the EXTRON CONTROL PANEL (Figure 13). Once selected, the button remains brightly lit showing the "PC" active. If deselected, the button will 'dim'.
SOFTWARE: The software on the PC includes: MS Office Suite, Realplayer and Windows Media Player.

For USB pluggable devices like memory drives, also called JumpDrives, ThumbDrives, or PenDrives, you will find a small cable near the computer monitor labeled USB FLASH DRIVE (Figure 14).
Press the DOC CAM button (Figure 15) to view the WolfVision Visualizer - The DOCUMENT CAMERA turns on automatically and adjusts to a preset frame setting and brightness level. The camera will default to "AUTO FOCUS" indicated by a green LED light located on top of the camera head (Figure 16).

You may now place your content material (books/paper sheets) on the working surface (under the camera head) and display to the main video screen. By pressing the + or - keys (Figure 17), you can manually adjust (zoom in/out) the picture frame size (Figure 18).

Each time the DOC CAM is deselected (by switching to another video source) the camera lamp will turn off and the unit moves into 'standby/off' status until re-activated.
To view the laptop - connect your laptop to the LAPTOP VGA cable (appropriate to your machine) located on top of the workstation surface (Figures 19-21). Press the LAPTOP button(Figure 21) to view the laptop and activate the laptop video output by pressing the Fn and F8 keys, simultaneously.

Important Point: The function keys vary on different laptops. If you see a blank or blue screen with the 'No-Input' message then you may need to press the function key on your laptop keyboard that allows you to display on an external monitor. Try holding down the Fn and F8 key (F7 on some laptops) simultaneously to send the signal to the projector. Using this key combination lets you toggle between the LCD screen and the projector or display on both screens at the same time. Please, allow a few seconds for the projector to "sync" after changing the setting.
Very Important Point! Please, make sure the laptop display settings are at 1024 x 768 to match the projector specifications. High laptop resolution settings may result in image distortions (images that are compressed, stretched, partially cut or don't fill the display area).
Insert DVD into external CD/DVD drive to view DVD-Insert the disk into the ultra thin CD/DVD external drive located under the workstation table top and above the keyboard (Figure 23).

The computer is formatted to use Windows Media Player to view DVDs. The volume may be adjusted directly at the DVD player controls or rotary VOLUME CONTROL knob on the EXTRON CONTROL PANEL (See next section).
Volume Adjustments-to adjust volume for the PC, DVD, Laptop or microphone - locate the single rotary VOLUME CONTROL knob on the EXTRON CONTROL PANEL (Figure 24). Five LED's (green/red) (Figure 25) provide visual representation of the volume changes.

(Optional) Press VCR button to view VCR tapes - There are no VCRs in the podium this year. A VCR player is availabe through the equipment loan program at the ITG Service Desk in ECJ 2.506 but must be returned after use. Contact the ITG Service Desk for details on transferring your (NTSC) VHS 1/2" video to DVD format.
The VCR player needs to be connected to the system using special cables.
Firmly Press PROJECTOR "Off" to turn off the projector (Figure 26). The projector lamp will turn off and the unit will begin a cool down sequence which takes approximately 90 seconds to complete before the system can be restarted.
