The multimedia desk in these rooms is designed as a "single projection" system. Users can send VIDEO SOURCES to one large video screen from a:

PROJECTORS are powered on/off with buttons located on the Crestron MAIN CONTROL PANEL (Figure 1).

AUDIO VOLUME levels are adjustable using the "Volume Controls" located on the Crestron MAIN CONTROL PANEL (Figure 2).

SWITCH BETWEEN VIDEO SOURCES by pressing the specific video source buttons (i.e. PC, Document Camera, Laptop) located on the left side of the Crestron MAIN CONTROL PANEL (Figure 3).

Get Started: Turn On the Projectors...

  1. Touch the small panel located on top of the desk to activate the control screen.
  2. Touch the panel once again to show the logon access screen; enter the password on the numeric keypad to gain access to the Creston MAIN CONTROL PANEL.
  3. When the code is accepted, the MAIN CONTROL PANEL will be visible and you will have control of the multimedia console equipment.
  4. Locate the "Projector Controls" on the MAIN CONTROL PANEL and press the projector TURN ON button. The data projector will take approximately 30 seconds to warm up. A solid blue screen indicates the projector is ready for use (Figure 4).

POWERING ON the projection system will automatically activate (lower) the projector screen during the warm up cycle. NOTE: If manual operation of either screen is required, locate the UP/DOWN buttons on the MAIN CONTROL PANEL to raise/lower the screen at any time. By manually operating the screen, the lecturer has access to the chalkboard or whiteboard surfaces (Figure 5).

The desk height can be RAISED or LOWERED by pressing the DESK ADJUST keys (Figure 6) located under the tabletop to the right side of the keyboard tray.

When using a laptop, plug the AC adaptor into the POWER OUTLET receptacle located on top of the desk surface (Figure 7).

Press the PC button to view the console PC - the PC button can be located on the left edge of the MAIN CONTROL PANEL (Figure 8).

The software on the PC includes: MS Office Suite, Realplayer and Windows Media Player. You'll find a small cable near the computer monitor labeled USB Flash Drive. Use this cable for USB pluggable devices like memory drives also called JumpDrives, ThumbDrives or PenDrives (Figure 9).

Once you have selected your video source and screen displays, you will see the same images on the flat panel monitor and the large video screen. (Figure 10).

Press the DOCUMENT CAMERA button to view the WolfVision Doc Cam - the DOCUMENT CAMERA controls appear in the center of the MAIN CONTROL PAGE. Touch TURN ON to start the camera. The camera lamp will turn on and adjust to a preset frame setting. You may now place your content material (books/paper sheets/3-D objects) on the working surface (under the camera head) and display to the main video screen. (Figure 11).

The Focus, Zoom functions are on the Doc Cam controls. By pressing Focus In or Focus Out and Zoom-In or Zoom-Out, you can manually adjust the picture quality and frame size (Figure 12).

Touch TURN OFF to power off the Wolfvision document camera.

Press the LAPTOP button to view the laptop - Connect your laptop to the LAPTOP VGA cable located on top of the workstation surface. Activate the laptop video output by pressing the Fn and F8 keys simultaneously. (see illustrations below)

IMPORTANT POINT: The function keys vary on different laptops. A blank or blue screen with the 'No-Input' message indicates you may need to press the function key on your laptop keyboard that lets you display to an external monitor. Try holding down the Fn and F8 key (F7 on some laptops) simultaneously to send the signal to the projector. Using this key combination lets you toggle between the LCD screen and the projector or display on both screens at the same time. Allow a few seconds for the projector to "sync" after changing the setting.

VERY IMPORTANT POINT! Make sure the laptop display settings are at 1024 x 768 to match the projector specifications. High laptop resolution settings may result in image distortions (images that are compressed, stretched, partially cut or don't fill the display area).

Insert DVD into external CD/DVD drive to view DVD - Insert the disk into the external CD/DVD drive located under the workstation table top and above the keyboard (Figure 13). The computer is formatted to use Windows Media Player to view DVDs.

VOLUME CONTROLS - To adjust volume settings for the PC or laptop, locate the Volume Controls (Figure 14) and touch either UP (louder) or DOWN (quieter). The green/red colored gauge will move in the direction of your selection to indicate a change in the level. CAUTION, if there is NO SOUND available from the ceiling recessed speakers; please check to see if the "MUTE" button has been depressed/activated.

Blanking display to video screen - to stop sending a signal to the screen (commonly referred as 'blanking', 'picture muting', 'black-out') press the Blank Display button.Blanking allows chalkboard or whiteboard use and gives lecturers freedom to walk in front of the room without being hit by the projector light beam. Pressing Show Display will restore the display image output.(Figure 15)

IP Intercom: Help is Just a Button Press Away!

These classrooms include an IP INTERCOM two-way communication system that enables instructors to quickly request assistance from the ITG Service Desk. The Service Desk is available Mon-Fri 7:30-12, 1-4:30

(Optional) Press Display Auxiliary Source button to view VCR tapes - There are no VCRs in the podium this year. A VCR player is available through the equipment loan program at the ITG Service Desk in ECJ 2.506 but must be returned after use. Contact the ITG Service Desk for details on transferring your (NTSC) VHS 1/2" video to DVD format.

The VCR player needs to be connected to the system using special cables.

To turn off the projector - the projector controls are located on the left edge of the MAIN CONTROL DISPLAY (Figure 17). Touching the "TURN OFF" button will power down the projector and the unit will begin a cool-down sequence which takes approximately 90 seconds to complete before the system can be restarted.
