The multimedia desk/podium in ETC 9.130 is designed to project these source inputs:
- CPU (with CD/DVD and USB flash drive cable)
- Laptop
- Document Camera (Doc Cam).
The projector is powered on/off with the NEC remote control. The remote also is used for adjusting volume levels.
Switching between video sources is done with square buttons located on the top of the desk (upper left side).
The desk/podium is also designed to raise up or down with switches. The switches are located on the right hand side of the keyboard drawer.
Getting Started…Turning On the Projector
The NEC MT1065 (grey) projector remote control is located on the desk/podium.
- Point the remote control at the front or back of the projector.
- Press and hold the POWER ON button (top right corner of the remote) for a minimum of two seconds. The data projector will warm up.
- When you see a solid blue screen, the projector is ready for use.
Hooking Up a Laptop
A laptop bundle, located inside a black cable cubby (top left side of desk), contains
- LAPTOP VGA
- LAPTOP AUDIO
- yellow network cable
- USB FLASH DRIVE cable
Connection Instructions
- Locate the LAPTOP VGA (15pin) cable and firmly plug it to your laptop VGA port (rear of laptop).
- Press the RGB button on the NEC remote control to make sure the projector is receiving the correct laptop (source) signal (RGB 1).
- Press one of the three square buttons labeled LAPTOP (located on top of the desk just under the cable cubby/laptop bundle).
- If you see a blank screen or blue screen with the ‘No-Input’ message then
you may need to press the function key on your laptop keyboard that lets you
display on an external monitor.
- Hold down the Fn and F8 key (or on some laptops F7) simultaneously to send the signal to the projector.
- Using this key combination lets you toggle between the LCD screen and the projector or display on both screens at the same time.
- Allow a few seconds for the projector to sync up after changing the setting.
- Make sure your laptop display settings are at 1024 x 768 to match the projector specifications. High laptop resolution settings may result in image distortions (images that are compressed, stretched, partially cut or don’t fill the display area)
TIP: If part of the image is still cut off, then press the AUTO ADJ button to fix or fine-tune the laptop picture. The image will take two seconds to adjust (indicted by the Hour Glass icon).
Optional: Plug in the LAPTOP AUDIO cable to send sound to the projector. Adjust levels with the NEC remote control.
Using the CPU (inside the desk/podium)
- Logon to the CPU. The computer should remain powered on at all times.
- Press the RGB button on the NEC remote control to make sure the projector is receiving the correct source signal (RGB 1)
- Press one of the three square buttons labled CPU (located on top of the desk just under the cable cubby/laptop bundle).
Optional—The DVD/CD external drive is located above the keyboard drawer (left side).
Adjust audio levels using the NEC remote control.
Optional—Use the USB FLASH DRIVE cable (inside the cable cubby) if you wish to plug in a USB thumb drive.
Using the WolfVision VZ-9 Document Camera
- Locate the blue ‘pull-pad’ on the folded arm of the doc cam (right hand side). The doc cam should be in stand-by mode…with the lamp off.
- Pull the arm upwards using the ‘pull-pad’. The camera head & light beam move into the working position. The doc cam is switched on automatically. The doc cam is activated to work in Autofocus & Autoiris.
- Press one of the three square buttons labeled DOC CAM (located on top of the desk under the cable cubby).
- Press the RGB button on the NEC remote control to make sure the projector is receiving the correct source signal (RGB1).
- Use the ZOOM wheel to adjust the camera field of view & press MAN focus to switch off the autofocus.
After using the doc cam, pull the camera head down (with the blue pad). The camera will turn off automatically
Using Other Remote Control Features
LASER—press and hold the Laser button to activate the laser pointer.
MAGNIFY—magnify in + or magnify out – on a portion of your presentation. Use the center SELECT mouse button to move the the enlarged image.
POINTER—press this button to display a pointer icon. The pointer arrow allows you to highlight areas of your slides or call attention to your most important points. The arrow icon can be moved using the center SELECT mouse button. Press the pointer button to hide the arrow.
PIC MUTE—Blacks out the screen.
Wrapping Up
- Turn off the projector with the NEC remote control
- Aim it at the front or back of the projector
- Press/hold the POWER OFF button (top left corner) for a minimum of two seconds.
- You’ll see a message “ARE YOU SURE?”
- Press ENTER at the Select button.
- Another message in red lettering ‘Please Wait a Moment’ will pop up just before the projector shuts off and cools down.
