Exchange ActiveSync on mobile devices enables you to synchronize your e-mail messages, calendar, and contacts in your Exchange server mailbox with Windows Mobile 5 or 6 devices.
What types of mobile devices can be used together with Exchange ActiveSync?
You can use the following mobile devices with Exchange ActiveSync:
Phones that are running Windows Mobile® 2002, Windows Mobile® 2003, or Windows Mobile® 5.0 or 6.0 software for smartphones, Pocket PCs and Pocket PC phones that are running Windows Mobile® 2002, Windows Mobile® 2003, or Windows Mobile® 5.0 or 6.0 software, and other mobile devices that are compatible with Exchange ActiveSync
Configuring ActiveSync on a Windows Mobile 5 or 6 Device
- Make sure the internet access to your device is properly configured. To test it, try opening a web page in your internet browser, e.g. http://www.engr.utexas.edu.
- Click Start > Programs > ActiveSync
- From the ActiveSync main menu, click on Menu > Configure Server (if you are configuring for the first time, Menu > Add Server Source).
- Enter Server address: mail.engr.utexas.edu
- Make sure to select This server requires an encrypted (SSL) connection
- Enter User Info
- Username: <your ENGR username>
- Password: <your ENGR password >
- Domain: engr
- Select the Save Password box
- In the Options window, all should be checked
- Contacts
- Calendar
- Tasks
- Select Finish
Notes
Depending on your device you may have to adjust the schedule, under Menu > Schedule. Most devices should automatically be configured to support Microsoft Direct Push, as indicated by "As items arrive".
The calendar and email default settings should meet most needs. There are some advanced settings for calendar and email that you may want to investigate.
