Virutal Desktops offer 24x7 access to software needed for academic endeavors. Students and Faculty can use the virtual machines from anywhere on the Internet.
Setup
Students
Request Virtual Desktop Access.
This is a very quick and simple process and you only have to do it once.
Accessing Virtual Desktop
Visit https://cse.vdesk.utexas.edu and simply log in with your campus EID to access software and file storage.
Virtual Desktop is accessible from any computer on-campus or off-campus via a browser.
Recommended System Configuration
- Windows OS (XP or Vista)
(Mac and Linux support is forthcoming) - VPN (for off-campus)
- Internet Explorer 7 or better
Windows 7 Users
- Download the vdesk client on computer (https://webspace.utexas.edu/itg/depot/vdesk-client/VMware-viewclient-3.1.2-188088.exe)
- When prompted for server address enter cse.vdesk.utexas.edu
- Reboot after installation
- Start vdesk client (Start | All Programs | VMware View Client)
- Enter UT EID credentials
- Select "Cockrell School of Engineering" Virtual Machines and Connect
