Faculty
Faculty in the Cockrell School of Engineering are welcome to publish on our server. Your space will be accessible via SFTP and/or FrontPage. Several departments (ChE, PGE, and BME) already host their sites on our server. We can set up space for you under the appropriate departmental URL. Please contact our Service Desk, 232-2486, service.desk@engr.utexas.edu, to get started.
Students
Students with a Cockrell School of Engineering account can create request their own personal a web site hosted on the Cockrell School of Engineering server. By default, student accounts are not set up for web publishing, so you must request this optional service. ASE Students should contact their department to set up web publishing.

Once you have requested your web site, there should be a folder named public_html
in your home directory (\\home.engr.utexas.edu\users\yourUsername). All files relevant to your web site must be placed in
the public_html folder.
- If for some reason the public_html is not in your home directory, you will have to create the folder.
- Save all files relevant to your web site in this folder.
- Once you have created your web page, name your Home Page index.htm.
- In order for your page to be published, the initial page must be named, index.htm.
- The URL for your personal page is:
http://studentweb.engr.utexas.edu/username.
- Username is your Cockrell School of Engineering account name, e.g. smithjd

Notes:
- Your web pages are included in your 500MB disk space quota for your Home Directory.
- The studentweb.engr.utexas.edu server supports ASP and PHP.
- You can access your directory remotely using SFTP (You cannot change file permissions via SFTP).
Student Organizations
Student Organizations may have space on our server, just pick a URL (e.g., www.engr.utexas.edu/sec/) and contact our service desk with the UT EID's of those who should have access.

- FrontPage 2002 Extensions
- Cold Fusion MX 7.0 with ties to a SQL server.
- Can be accessed via SFTP (Web access instructions are available) and FrontPage
- We constantly upgrade security with the latest patches, so our systems are very secure.
- All servers are backed up daily in the event of catastrophic failure. We do not do individual file restores.
- If your site needs to be up and running 24/7, then we strongly encourage you to utilize our services
