Pi Epsilon Tau is the petroleum engineering honor society at The University of Texas at Austin. Pi Epsilon Tau’s goals are to create, establish, and maintain communication and relationships between students and industry personnel; stress involvement in academics, community, and industry, expose members to The University and industry; and encourage student initiative to improve the organization and industry involvement.

The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) is an international technical professional organization dedicated to the advancement of technology associated with the recovery of energy resources from well bores. A vast array of programs, ranging from publications to conferences and section meetings provide members with opportunities to exchange ideas. The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) at The University of Texas at Austin is one of 82 student chapters worldwide.
