about what it is

The goal of project i.math (or "interactive math") is simple: to provide students and teachers of grades K8-12 with interactive learning tools which serve to extend mathematics beyond the limits of the classroom. Its usage is intended to broaden one's understanding about topics in algebra, calculus, and Euclidean geometry.

The games are played with the Macromedia Flash plug-in to your browser. There ARE some known issues with older versions, so check to make sure you have the latest version. You may use the button below to go to Macromedia's website:

Each math topic has various learning modules which focus on specific concepts. Additionally, each module includes an interactive game, a guide to playing the game, and links to supplemental material (for both student and teachers). Experiments designed by AIM4E serve as the basis for the interactive tools.

who is making it

Project i.math is being developed by Design Technology and Engineering for America's Children (DTEACh), a group in the Mechanical Engineering department at the University of Texas at Austin which seeks to emphasize the practical applications of science and math in education. The project is also receiving considerable support from UTopia, and Achievement In Math for Engineering (AIM4E). Doctors Kris Wood and Rich Crawford co-lead the development of i.math. One graduate student (Jason Herlehy) is actually developing the i.math games and website.
