What do ASE co-ops do?

UT Austin’s Aerospace Engineering co-ops have:

  • Engineered the entry vehicle configuration for a future mission to Venus (JPL).
  • Upgraded a full-scale mock-up of the space walk transport cart used aboard the International Space Station (Lockheed Martin).
  • Performed an external imaging survey of the International Space Station to detect and troubleshoot visual anomalies (Boeing).

What do ASE co-ops have to say about their experience?

“I think the greatest benefit of the co-op program (aside from taking a break from school!) is that I'm getting real world experience, working alongside engineering professionals.  I'm also getting to meet people who have the same interest as me, and I'm able to meet some of the most fascinating people in the space industry.  And the greatest part is that I'm working alongside these people towards a common goal.” – Madhurita Sengupta, ASE at NASA-JSC

Special Advising Information

Co-op experience can count toward Professional Engineering licensure.
