Welcome to ECAC. We’re here to help you, as a Cockrell School student, Engineer Your Career! Through the variety of services and resources we offer, you can learn job search skills that last a lifetime and begin your career. RAMSHORNlink, our interactive recruiting site, provides access to on-campus interviewing, a resume database, employer information sessions, and job postings. Our in-house services and resources include: individual career counseling, resume review, workshops, a career library, and much more.
The Cockrell School is ranked sixth in the nation among all public engineering schools and is home to 5,000 undergraduate and 2,000 graduate students. Employers from all over the world seek out Cockrell School graduates. ECAC helps connect those employers with students through a variety of services and resources.
Registering with ECAC gives you access to the interactive recruiting system RAMSHORNlink. Follow this quick, three-step process.
Through RAMSHORNlink, the Engineering Career Assistance Center's online system, apply for on-campus interviews and submit resumes for job postings. Submitted resumes also become part of a database that is searchable by employers. In addition, RAMSHORNlink houses a number of tools and resources to help you succeed in your job search.
ECAC offers Resume Builder to help students create and format resumes that employers prefer (recommended for first-time students). The system also allows students to upload resumes of their own (recommended for returning students). The Resume Builder is an easy way to create a functional resume highlighting your education, experience, skills, and accomplishments.
Once you have a draft, we suggest bringing a hard copy to ECAC in ECJ 2.400. A career counselor will review your resume and make suggestions for improvement.
During the academic year, employers come to campus to conduct interviews with Cockrell School engineering students. Keep an eye out for positions that interest you, and submit your resume for them during the corresponding application period.
Each week, an interview list opens for application. You have from Wednesday at 10 a.m. to Friday at 2 p.m. to submit your resume for any positions on that week's list. The corresponding interviews will be held three weeks later.
Two weeks after resumes are submitted, on Tuesday, your status in the "My Interviews" section will change from "Pending" to one of the following: "Invited," "Alternate," or "Not Selected."
If you have been invited, your interview selection period begins Wednesday of that week at 10:50 a.m. As an invited candidate, you are required to select a time. We strongly recommend that you select as soon after 10:50 a.m. as possible, since times are available on a first-come, first- served basis. Invited candidates are guaranteed a slot before Thursday at 10:50 a.m., after which alternate candidates may select any remaining times. The interview time selection period officially closes at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday.
If you are designated as an alternate, your interview selection period begins that Thursday at 10:50 a.m. Alternate candidates are not guaranteed a slot.
All interviews take place on the third floor of ECJ. Wait in the lobby of ECJ 3.200 until your name is called by the employer.
ECAC has an interview policy, similar to policies at other career centers, which is designed to protect the integrity of the Cockrell School of Engineering, ECAC, and UT engineering students.
This is called the "no show" interview policy. If you are scheduled for an interview, and don't show up, you will be barred from using the system and required to speak with a counselor.
Each strike places a temporary bar on a student's record, preventing the student from using ECAC's interactive services. The student must speak with a counselor to remove the bar. A student who accumulates three strikes will be prohibited from using the interviewing system.
Job board postings are not part of the on-campus interview process. They are separate positions. Please read instructions carefully. Some employers request that you submit your resume in RAMSHORNlink. Others request that you email it or upload it to their website.
To see job board postings, click on the "Apply for Jobs" tab in RAMSHORNlink. Then choose "Job Postings I Qualify For" in the drop-down menu.
To view application status for job postings, go to "Apply For Jobs" and select the "Applications" tab.

Your resume presents your unique combination of education, experience, skills, and accomplishments in an informative and positive light. It is your chance to persuade an employer to speak with you about your qualifications.
