Welcome to the University of Texas at Austin’s Engineering Honors Council (EHC) website. EHC is about helping improve the Engineering Honors Program experience. That being said, the main purpose of this website is to help publicize undergraduate research opportunities. Engineering honors students are often interested in graduate school, but it is important to be involved in research as an undergraduate both to assess graduate school as a possibility and to get into top graduate schools. If you are looking for a research position now, the best place to start is the “Research Opportunities” link at the top of the page. This page contains links from professors or student groups who are looking for researchers. If you do not find a position to your liking on the “Research Opportunities” page, there are two other ways to find leads using this website. First, the section called “Student Projects” is a listing and description of ongoing research-oriented student projects. Most of these projects are always looking for new, dedicated members. Second, the section called “Student Experiences” includes stories from students who have participated in undergraduate research, either through student projects or as research assistants for professors. Professors who have previously hired or mentored undergraduates are likely to do so in the future, so reading about these experiences may help you figure out which professors to approach about potential research projects. Finally, this website includes information on the new “Honors Thesis” engineering honors option. We at the EHC hope this website proves useful to you.
