    An externship is an opportunity for students to spend a day w/ an engineering company during the winter break. You get to see first-hand what professionals, in your major, do on a daily basis. Sign up for on site visits w/ companies in Austin, Dallas, Houston, & San Antonio. 
    To sign up for Externship, complete the following steps:
     1.) Register with ECAC. If you have not registered with ECAC, stop by ECJ 2.400.
     2.) Log in to the Externship page on the ECAC website: http://ecac.engr.utexas.edu/Events/externship/index.cfm
     3.) Access your "Externship Profile" and complete all three steps.

    Note:
    Applying online for Externship does not obligate you to participate in the program, it simply indicates your interest. Information.  Info essions are NOT required for participation, but will be beneficial to you whether or not you have already signed up.  Questions?   • Office of Student Life seeks Juniors & Seniors to serve on Engineering Leadership Team (website)
    - In Spring 2010, OSL will offer “Ramshorn Retreats".  The focus of the half-day, on-campus retreats for 1st & 2nd year students will be "What does it mean to be an Engineering Leader?" and “Engineers & Communications”.
    - Retreats will involve small group discussions led by upper division students on the “Engineering Leadership Team”.
    - To be a member of the 2010 Engineering Leadership Team, visit OSL (ECJ 1.224).

    offered in Spring 2010 (website)
    An introduction to leadership principles and theories including work style preferences, transferable skills, effective team communications, and conflict resolution.  Includes basic skill development in areas such as networking, dining etiquette, interviewing, and public speaking.
     
    = Course meets weekly (Thursday, 3:30-5:30pm)
     = Prerequisite: Must have completed 1 year at UT Austin
     = This seminar counts for 2 credit hours.
     = This seminar will be taken as a Pass/Fail Course.

    Dynamic speakers from diverse backgrounds lead interactive sessions that stimulate thought provoking discussion & personal growth.  Sessions will introduce concepts that include (but not limited to):

     = How to Influence People.

  • IE Pre-Graduate School Internship (website)
    Are you thinking about whether graduate school is in your future?  Are you uncertain about what it would be like to be a graduate student and what academic program may be suited best to your interests and career goals?  Consider the Intellectual Entrepreneurship (IE) "Pre-Graduate School Internship."  This internship is open to students in all UT colleges/schools and departments.  You may earn one, two or three hours of academic credit (CMS 164M/264M/364M) by participating in the internship.
