One of the most rewarding benefits from attending MITE is that you get to meet students and staff members at the university who are more than willing to guide you and give advice. As a matter of fact, knowing these individuals helped me feel more comfortable and acquainted with the university as a freshman. My memories of MITE are not only of what I did, but who I met. My camp counselors were leaders who worked as a team to help students succeed. As I see them now, in the workforce, I can’t express the sense of gratitude and motivation I feel knowing that they encouraged many of us to someday get to where they are now and beyond. Participating in events such as MITE and getting involved with programs like Equal Opportunity in Engineering, definitely opened a world of opportunities for me. There are no limits as to what we can do and where we can go. There are many resources available to help us be successful at the university. Take advantage of them as I do.

The MITE experience is a very rewarding opportunity, which allows
pre-college students to get an insight into student life at the
Cockrell School of Engineering. When I attended MITE, I was going
into my junior year of high school. This camp allowed me to take a
closer look at what engineering is all about and most importantly,
it reinforced my desire to become an engineer. The program also
helped me organize my college planning activities and gave me tips
on college preparation.
