I attended MITE the summer before my senior year of high school. After my jammed-packed, amazing week in the MITE camp, my mind was totally changed. MITE really opened up my eyes to everything that the University of Texas at Austin had to offer. Needless to say, after MITE, I realized that UT was the school I wanted to attend and that Mechanical Engineering was for me.
My time here at UT has been challenging, enlightening, and fun. I've found myself among many different communities inside and outside of the engineering department. During my first two years, I actively participated in the Longhorn Band and was able to travel with the football team and march at the games. I also became a member of several student organizations such as the National Society of Black Engineers, Pi Sigma Pi, and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers.
I feel that my experiences with each group have greatly been of value to
my personal and academic development. Building small communities at UT
through these groups made my transition into college life and the
engineering world much easier. Upon receiving a degree in engineering
from UT, my plan is to go into the robotics and automotive industry and
make advancements in human-modeled robotics and medical aid.
