I grew up in San Antonio, Texas, wanting to be anything from an astronaut to a rock star. After several of my school teachers encouraged me to continue studying math and science, I knew I found something I truly enjoyed. During high school, my parents suggested going to college to become an engineer. Originally, I thought engineers only worked on car engines. So, I told my parents that I didn’t want to be an engineer because I knew nothing about engines.

Attending MITE 2002, after my junior year of high school, allowed me to learn far more about engineering and The University of Texas at Austin than I could ever imagine. I am now a fourth-year aerospace engineering student and part of the Business Foundations program. I am also a member of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and the American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics.

I recently completed an internship with Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control in Dallas, Texas. I am planning to return to Lockheed Martin for another internship. After graduation I plan to attend law school and pursue a career in patent law to protect the ideas of my fellow engineers.
