My name is Tommy Abrego and I was born and raised in Austin, Texas.  I am currently a senior studying Civil Engineering and planning to graduate in 2010.  I attended MITE during the summer of 2005.  “MITE '05!!!”  I am very focused on my studies and I plan be a professional engineer, working on projects such as designing a bridge or perhaps a new stadium, since I love sports.

My best MITE experience was meeting the counselors, who in fact showed me that The University of Texas at Austin is a school full of great people.  Every single counselor that we had was really awesome and a lot of fun.  MITE influenced me to come to The University of Texas because it showed me how great the engineering program is and I saw how much the university focuses on the success of each student.  MITE is a great program for prospective engineering students because it is a way to experience what The Cockrell School of Engineering is all about.  You will start learning several skills that will be used in engineering classes everyday.

At the moment, I am the President of the student  chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers as well as a member of Pi Sigma Pi Engineering Academic Society. My ultimate career goal is to one day have my own engineering firm.
