Date, Time, and Location
The tournament will take place on Monday, September 21, 2009, from approximately 7:30 am to 2:00 pm. Registration begins at 7:30 am, and the tournament will begin promptly at 8:30 am. The location of the tournament will be Shadowglen Golf Club, at 12801 Lexington St., Manor, TX 78653. Shadowglen’s web site contains directions to the course.
Registration
Registration for the tournament will only be accepted by the online registration form. Registration for the golf tournament starts: September 1, 2009 at 10:00am
Fees
The cost of the tournament per student is $20. Payment should be made by cash or check made out to Student Engineering Council, and payment needs to be dropped off to the SEC office, ECJ 1.222 by Friday, Sept 18th, at 12 noon. If we do not receive payment by the deadline, your spot will be given to another student on the waitlist.
Format
The tournament will be a shotgun, 8:30 am start. Registration will start at 7:30 am, and all teams must be signed in by 8:15 am in order to participate in the tournament. Shotgun start means all teams will start at 8:30 am on their assigned holes. If you are late, you will not be allowed to play, and your fees will not be refunded.

The style of play of the tournament will be a team scramble. Each team will consist of four players: two recruiters and two students. All players will be teeing off from the same set of tees. Each individual will hit a drive, and then the team chooses one shot that the team feels is the best to continue the hole from. The other team members then all move their ball to the spot of that one shot, and continue play from there. This will continue in this same way until the ball is holed, or until a score of one over par is reached. If a score of two over par is reached, players will pick up their ball and move on to the next hole, counting two over par as their score for that hole. Another explanation of scramble play can be found at this website.
Determining the Winner & Prizes
Upon completion of the tournament, an impartial scorekeeper will tally up the scores of each team. The team with the lowest overall score for 18 holes will be named the winner, and the next lowest score will be named second place, and the third lowest score will be named third place. Each team member on the top three teams will receive a prize, which will be determined at a later time.
Dishonesty and Cheating
Each team is expected to accurately keep their score as they compete in the tournament. Any instances of inaccurate score keeping that are reported to the tournament officials and found to be true will result in automatic disqualification of the team found to be cheating. The point of the tournament is to have a good time and get to know some new people, so we do not expect this to be an issue.
Official Rules
The tournament will follow all USGA rules and regulations, and all teams will keep score in accordance with these rules. The official rules can be found at this site.
Etiquette
All players are expected to follow proper etiquette for a golf tournament. A guideline on good etiquette can be found here.
Dress Code & Equipment
All players are expected to meet dress code requirements for tournament play. For a shirt, each player should wear a nice polo shirt, or golf shirt. NO T-SHIRTS! For pants, players will be allowed to wear khaki golf shorts or slacks. As well as meeting the dress code, all players must provide their own clubs. ShadowGlen Golf Club does not rent clubs out, so if you don't bring clubs, you can't play.
