Gregory Brooks earned his master’s of architecture degree from The University of Texas at Austin in 1995, when he also won first prize in the United Nations National Conference on Aging’s international design competition. He served one year as adjunct professor teaching second year design at the School of Architecture at the University of Detroit, before returning to Austin. He joined the Cockrell School in 2001 as a lecturer teaching third year architectural engineering design in the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering. He now teaches full-time and is responsible for the department’s two required courses – “Intro to Design 1” and “Intro to Design 2.” Brooks is also the coordinator and instructor for the summer, study-abroad International Engineering Program in London, England.
For six years, he worked on projects in Michigan, Washington, Florida, Oklahoma and Texas with the esteemed architect, Charles Moore and the company Moore/Andersson Architects. After 15 years of professional experience with signature design firms, Brooks now owns and is the lead designer for his own company, BOX, a contemporary building design studio established in 2001.
