Dr. Randall Charbeneau earned his Ph.D. in civil engineering from Stanford University in 1978. He joined the faculty of The University of Texas at Austin that same year.
Dr. Charbeneau researches stormwater management, engineering hydraulics, groundwater hydrology, subsurface fate and transport of hazardous and radioactive materials, multiphase flow and mathematical modeling. He is developing a mathematical model for design and analysis of liquid petroleum hydrocarbon recovery systems. Charbeneau is assessing culvert hydraulics and conducting hydraulic analyses of safety end treatments on hydraulic structures, highway drainage at super elevation transition sections, and hydraulic effects of bridge rails. These studies include application of both physical and mathematical modeling tools.
Research interests:
- Stormwater management
- Groundwater hydrology and hydraulics
- Subsurface fate and transport of hazardous and radioactive wastes
- Multiphase flow of petroleum liquids in groundwater environments
