Dr. Clint Dawson earned his Ph.D. in mathematical sciences from Rice University in 1988. He joined the faculty of the College of Engineering in 1995. He is a member of The University of Texas at Austin Center for Subsurface Modeling, which uses computer simulations to model the behavior of fluids in geological formations.
He researches surface water flows, contaminant transport in ground and surface water, and oil and gas reservoirs. To research these subjects, Dawson develops numerical analysis, large-scale parallel computing and environmental modeling techniques.
Research interests:
- Numerical solution to partial differential equations
- Algorithms for massively parallel scientific computation
- Application to surface and subsurface flow and transport in earth systems
- Hurricane storm surge predictions and hindcasting
