Dr. Ofodike Ezekoye earned his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 1991. He joined the faculty of The University of Texas at Austin in 1993. In 1997, he received a Faculty Early Career Development Award from the National Science Foundation.

Dr. Ezekoye researches combustion including fire modeling, spark-ignition engine modeling, and fundamental flame processes. His ongoing research evaluates firefighting tactics to devise safer and faster fire extinguishing tactics. He has studied the production and evolution of combustion-generated aerosols, which are particles suspended in air like soot, in order to develop and evaluate remediation strategies. He conducts computational research on spark ignition of flames to understand how ignition systems can be optimized for longer sparkplug life. He also simulates the fluid mechanics and combustion dynamics associated with jet flames. This has resulted in the development of an acoustically coupled burner system that can control the amount of soot and length of the flame.
