Dr. Arjang Hassibi earned his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from
Stanford University in 2005. He joined the faculty of The University of
Texas at Austin in 2006 after a postdoctoral appointment at the
California Institute of Technology. He is a member of the
Computer
Engineering Research Center, the
Microelectronics Research Center and the
Institute for Cellular and Molecular Biology.
Dr. Hassibi develops new bio-electronics detection platforms for
molecular diagnostics, high-throughput screening and biomedical imaging.
His interdisciplinary research group addresses technical challenges at
the interface of engineering and biotechnology. Hassibi and his students
use integrated circuits, semiconductor manufacturing processes and
statistical signal processing methods to design better analytical tools
for a variety of biological applications. His current research focuses
on DNA and protein integrated microarrays (a way of telling which of
thousands of genes are active), real-time microarrays, polymerase (a
protein which aids in the production of DNA) chain reaction platforms
and integrated spectroscopy systems.
Research interests:
- Biosensors and bioelectronics
- Integrated sensors
- Biomedical VLSI systems
