Dr. Michael E. Orshansky earned his Ph.D. in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California, Berkeley in 2001. He joined the faculty of The University of Texas at Austin in 2003. Dr. Orshansky in 2004 won a National Science Foundation CAREER Award, the most prestigious award for young faculty.
Orshansky develops algorithms and computer-aided design tools to improve circuit manufacturability and robustness, allowing for improved yield. For example, he is developing models, algorithms and computer-aided design software that will more accurately describe the electrical behavior of transistors inside nanoscale chips, which will allow the creation of faster and more reliable chips.
