Dr. Jorge Prozzi earned his Ph.D. in civil and environmental engineering from the University of California at Berkeley in 2001. He joined the faculty of the College of Engineering in January 2002.
Dr. Prozzi’s research involves design and analysis of highway pavement structures, materials testing, and traffic loading characterization. Prozzi uses accelerated pavement testing (APT) to improve design technology, and carries out life-cycle cost analysis and efficiency of innovative structures and road materials. He applies advanced econometircs to model pavement performance by combining multiple data sets and by comparing field versus laboratory performance. He uses a combination of empirical and analytical methodologies in his research, such as applied probability and statistics, to solve transportation-related problems.
Research Interests:
- Design and analysis of pavement structures
- Highway materials and traffic characterization
- Applied Probability and Statistics and Econometrics systems
- Web-based database support systems
- Quality Control/Quality Assurance
