Dr. Ali Yilmaz earned his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2005. He joined the
faculty of The University of Texas at Austin in 2006.
Dr. Yilmaz’s research interests are in the area of scientific computing,
specifically in computational electromagnetics. He has been
investigating fast, accurate and robust numerical methods for
calculating and characterizing electromagnetic fields in complex
environments. He uses supercomputers to develop hybrid electromagnetic
and circuit simulators that are accelerated by fast and parallel
physics-based algorithms. The simulators that result from his efforts
can efficiently analyze transient electromagnetic phenomena involving
antennas and high-speed, analog, mixed-signal, and microwave circuits
encountered in radar, communication, and computer systems.
Research interests:
- Computational electromagnetics
- High performance computing
- Fast algorithms
- Antenna systems
