EE 368 - Electric Power Transmission and Distribution Systems

PRESENTED BY:

Dr. W. Mack Grady, Professor, Department of Electrical Computer Engineering
Dr. Surya Santoso, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical Computer Engineering

OVERVIEW: The ECE's Energy Systems technical area has enjoyed a great success in converting EE 362L "Power Electronics" from a lecture-only to a combined lecture and laboratory course.  Since the conversion was implemented in Spring 2002, it has consistently attracted more students.  The success suggests that our students want more laboratory experience.  Undergraduate interest in electric power is high, and the job market is strong.

Given this accomplishment, EE 368 "Electric Power Transmission and Distribution" is embarking on the same path.  Our objective is to revamp EE 368 to a combined lecture and laboratory course, and to have it designated as on of the "advanced lab" courses in Electrical and Computer Engineering.  We believe that adding laboratory components to these courses we will be able to help enhance student learning experience and create an exciting and conducive learning environment.  Converting a lecture-only course to a combined lecture and laboratory can certainly be duplicated and transferred to other courses in other departments.
