OVERVIEW: A Dr. Cynthia Finelli, Director of the
Center for Research on Learning and Teaching North at the University of
Michigan, will summarize her research team's 7-year effort to discover the
causes of cheating among engineering undergraduates and to identify activities
that impact the ethical development of engineering undergraduates . She will
discuss the results of three major studies that surveyed a total of 1300
engineering and humanities undergraduates at eleven institutions and will
describe plans for the next phase of her team's work, which involves UT-Austin.
Dr. Hillary Hart, Distinguished Senior Lecturer and Research Fellow in the
Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering will lead an
interactive discussion about the implications for the team's findings in the
UT-Austin classroom .
