Committee Charge
The charge of the Advising, Admissions and Retention Committee is to review matters pertinent to the matriculation, retention and graduation of undergraduate students in the Cockrell School of Engineering.
Tasks, Deliverables, and Schedule:
- Make recommendations as needed or requested regarding undergraduate advising;
- Make recommendations as needed or requested regarding the freshman experience;
- Make recommendations as needed or requested regarding admission to the major sequence in the various degree plans;
- Make recommendations as needed or requested regarding progress toward degree, including the automated advising audit and the automated degree audit;
- Make recommendations as needed or requested regarding retention efforts including supplemental instruction, mentoring, collaborative learning and tutoring;
- Make recommendations on any other matters pertinent to the success of undergraduates in the School; and
- Prepare reports to the Dean on matters as necessary throughout the year and submit a final report of activities no later than the end of the spring semester.
Membership:
The Associate Dean for Student Affairs chairs this committee made up of the faculty Undergraduate Advisor for each degree plan and at least two undergraduate students appointed by the Dean.
