The Engineering Communication Committee is charged with supporting and enhancing the teaching of technical communication at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The committee will provide a forum for faculty teaching technical communication in the School, enabling them to share expertise and resources for their teaching enterprise. The committee will also determine ways to promote students’ exposure to expert technical communicators and to the professional rewards of communicating technical ideas and results clearly.
Tasks, Deliverables, and Schedule:
- Make available the style sheets, templates, and samples used in all 333T courses to all Engineering Communication faculty;
- Ensure that the Braden Endowment funds are used to “advance effective writing and professional communication skills among engineering students.” Oversee the activities (such as the Braden Communication Award) made possible by this endowment. Set criteria for the School-wide scholarships made possible by this endowment.
- If the School institutes an Honors Engineering Degree, develop an honors section of 333T;
- Prepare reports to the Dean on matters as necessary throughout the year and submit a final report no later than the end of the spring semester.
