Committee Charge
Information technology is a critical infrastructure for the Cockrell School's education and research missions. The purpose of the IT Policy Committee is to provide the Dean with recommendations on providing efficient and cost-effective IT services to our faculty and students and for administrative services.
Tasks, Deliverables, and Schedule:
- Assess the services (including hardware, software, networking, and support aspects) currently provided by the university (ITS), the Cockrell School (ITG), and the seven departments in the school;
- Identify redundancies and inefficiencies of the services, and determine which ones may be leveraged by upstream providers to take advantage of scalability;
- Analyze which services are best provided by various IT entities and which services may require a change in support level, shifted to another entity, or be eliminated;
- Provide recommendations on price-performance for IT services, recognizing that the resources dedicated to IT cannot be used for other priorities in the Cockrell School; and
- Prepare reports to the Dean on matters as necessary throughout the year and submit a final report of activities no later than the end of the spring semester.
Membership:
The membership of the IT Policy Committee includes the seven department chairs or a designate recommended by the chairman. The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs will serve as the Committee Chairman.
Staff Support:
- Academic Affairs: Sonya Shaffer
- Dean’s Office: Kelly Quinney
