Committee Charge

The charge of the Public Affairs Committee is to review matters pertinent to Engineering public affairs and make recommendations regarding planning and implementation of public affairs activities that benefit the university, the Cockrell School, its students, alumni, and other constituents.

Tasks, Deliverables, and Schedule:

  1. Review and evaluate the effectiveness of the School's public affairs strategic plan and the Dean's strategic plan for communications activities;
  2. Assist with School-wide planning and implementation of the communications plan using best practices;
  3. Encourage and support the development and use of improved external and internal communication tools and techniques;
  4. Evaluate existing internal and external public affairs programs for their value to the university, the Cockrell School, and its students, alumni and other constituents;
  5. Make recommendations to improve the reputational scores of the U.S. News and World Report rankings;
  6. Make recommendations on any other matters pertinent to the School's media relations, publications and web publishing programs; and
  7. Prepare reports to the Dean on matters as necessary throughout the year and submit a final report of activities no later than the end of the spring semester.

Membership:

Two faculty members from each department will be appointed to serve on this committee.  The Director of Engineering Public Affairs will chair this committee.
